This song is about being caught in a relationship that is wrong (for one reason or another). The main character is wondering when will this end. He/she is commenting on how their partner/lover lies to themselves and/or others sometimes and somehow finds a way to rationalize the situation... whatever that situation might be.
The "I want to run to you" part is talking about running to God or a loved one etc for comfort and support or love etc.
It also talks about life ("the long winding road"), travelling to "where losers can win", i.e. Heaven, happiness, salvation etc.
"God's on my shoulder, she's in my ear" - the angel and the devil scenario. Conscience vs instinct/greed. Do you have the strength and courage to do what is right? You know it's wrong... why must you wait until something bad happens?
"Why must we see what we already know?" - This is a religious reference also. Some people don't believe anything unless they see it - which is sad I think. You must have faith to enjoy life.
Regardless, we're all "on the long winding road to where losers can win."
